Early Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Benchmarks Raise Questions, But Not Concerns

Early benchmarks for Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor have surfaced, initially raising concerns as the scores appear lower than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Geekbench scores for the Vivo V2606A, which is the iQOO 16 smartphone, show 3,434 points in single-core and 9,334 in multi-core tests, compared to the Gen 5’s 3,631 and 10,940 respectively.

Qualcomm Dismisses Benchmark Worry

However, Qualcomm is not worried about these preliminary results. The company is set to officially unveil the new flagship processors on September 22nd at the Snapdragon Summit. They believe pre-production units often undergo stress tests that don’t accurately reflect true performance.

iQOO 16 to Feature New Chipset

The Vivo V2606A, identified as the iQOO 16, will be the first device to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Qualcomm is planning to launch several Snapdragon flagship silicon models this time around, having teased two of them recently.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 continues to be considered a true powerhouse, scoring higher in benchmark tests.
