Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 Leaks Reveal Wide Foldable Rival to Samsung and Apple

Samsung recently released its brand new Galaxy Z Fold 8, a wide foldable resembling a passport when folded. Renders of the upcoming iPhone Ultra suggest Apple will adopt a similar design. However, Xiaomi is also entering the wide foldable market with the Mix Fold 5.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 Design and Display

Images of the Mix Fold 5 have surfaced on Weibo, showcasing a very wide inner screen with rounded corners, differing from the Z Fold 8. The display appears wider than the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, which featured a taller display. The selfie camera is embedded in the top right corner, and the bezel thickness is comparable to Samsung's foldables.

Xiaomi has also shared an image of the device in a Hyper OS 4 announcement, displaying a Notes app, suggesting software optimization for the wide form factor.

Unique Chipset and Specifications

Unlike many smartphones, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 won't be powered by a Qualcomm or Dimensity processor. Instead, it's expected to feature Xiaomi's own 3 nm Xuanjie O3 chipset. The inner display is believed to be 7.6 inches, matching Samsung's offering. The phone is anticipated to have a flagship-level camera system and a substantial 6000 mAh battery.
